    Are there any students’ movements that demand cut all ties with all countries that promote terrorist organisations such as Hamas (Qatar for example) or is it too uncomfortable for the universities that get a lot of money from these countries? Thank you for your efforts to explain this all mess though.

    If you have a PhD in a STEM field from a very well known university, you can work on yearly contracts as a full time lecturer at a well known university in Manhattan, and get paid $70,000 a year. You can't afford to rent a studio apartment, or save for retirement.. BUT teaching there is prestigious, and it will make you feel good about yourself.

    First of all any takeover is violent by definition. Plus, they were armed so the proposition it was meant to be peaceful is propaganda. Second, the police suspected the Afro American Society of doing the cross burning themselves. This suspicion would later be confirmed when members of the group, including the treasurer, referred to the cross burning as a set up. This event, and others like it, was the beginning of the end of higher education. Now today, students can call for the genocide of Jews and college staff encourages them. It's all connected.

    I am fucked up. I can't say a single word to my parents because they always don't understand me. Whenever I opened up myself infront of them. They always be like: it's okay, it will be okay.. You just need to keep your mobile aside and focus on your study. Everything will be fine with the time but why don't they understand, this can come with the time again too. 🥲🥲 Whenever I feel sadness, anxiety or any kind of stress, I always consume food. Either it iss in habit or it just keeps me comfortable with my stress.

    I have anxiety a lot about school and family (not getting into detail) but it’s been horrible for me and I’ve been worrying about what happens next with my parents because they might be getting divorced and I’m worried I won’t be the same in my mental health if they do and I can’t stop thinking about it but I don’t open up about it because every time I try someone will say something horrible about it. I fear my parents will lash out at me if I try to open up cause this isn’t the first time.

    The problem is that adjunct professors are committing economic suicide. These are outstanding individuals who are highly dedicated but their teaching model is not sustainable in a capitalist society. Until adjunct teachers adopt Gandhi's disobedience on a massive scale will be slowly dying on the vine. The students are not regular college students they are currently on a high school level on freshman and sophomore level in college. There is no point to teaching on this level for substandard wages. You are dealing with a highly unethical and immoral job.

    Sometimes, it's hard to sympathize. I feel like there is a certain type of stubbornness and almost hubris with some people where they feel like they are born to be brilliant scholars/professors instead of looking for other opportunities in industry where pay is much better. Is being a professor really their only option and if so, why?

    • @exergue1315
      @exergue1315 10 місяців тому

      Universities and colleges need to offer these courses, of which many are general education requirements. It’s not that adjunct faculty aren’t needed, it’s that the administration has rationalized the casualization of academic labor. They pay adjuncts less because they can, not because their labor isn’t needed. They have simply found a convincing line of propaganda that people like you have swallowed hook, line, and sinker. There will always be idiots who think their bosses and industries wouldn’t casualize or do massive layoffs if given half a chance. I am sure that you will live to eat your words. If you’re in the tech sector, you may have already realized how short-sighted your viewpoint was. By the time they come for your job, it will be too late for you to think about how you should have stood up for labor rights.

    • @blib3786
      @blib3786 2 роки тому

      This same exact thing happens in STEM fields too. Yes it is easier to "make it" since there is more growth and demand than the humanities, but full time positions in academia are still extremely scarce even in STEM fields, because there is a massive glut of PhD's and shrinking tenure track positions just like in the humanities. Now of course you can always "sell out" so to speak and go into industry, which isn't a possibility for LA degrees, but if you want a career in academia your chances aren't much better.
